Log4Net in the new version?

We've considered that & think that decoupling them would minimize any problems re incompatible configurations between our logger and log4net.

We'll give it a go anyway & see what the performance is like. If it proves to be a problem, we'll only raise the event if the log message is above our logger's set threshold.
