I have read enough here to know that VMS is not officially supported, but that it does occasionally work for some people. However, I have not seen much in terms of ryhme/reason as to how/when it does work, and tricks to perhaps help increase the success rate when transferring files to a VMS system.

I'm currently in a bit of a deadlock with a single client that runs on a VMS system and sometimes gets the file, sometimes does not. CLI ftp works fine, so far as I can tell, from the Solaris box that runs the Java App using the enterprisedt FTP classes.

I'm looking for anything that anyone can tell me regarding this. I see that a few people have had VMS issues, but nothing so much as a workaround has been talked about, or how anyone solved the issue. My next step is probably an external shell script hack for this 1 customer. I don't really want to look for other Java FTP packages, because the 999 other customers work fine. But a shell script is, to be sure, less than ideal.

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I would be very appreciative.

Thanks,
-Norm

We have released version 1.5.0, which has tentative support for parsing VMS directory listings (the dirDetails() method).

Please let us know if you have any problems
