DirDetails ignores file ending with period?

Why does DirDetails ignores files whose name begins with a period? I had a status file called .index.sml, had to rename it to index.xml ...

It really depends what the server does with names beginning with a period. Traditionally in Unix these files are not shown, and so many servers will not show them in listings.
