Serve a URL rather than static document

Question

Hi, I'd like to get a web page via sftp so that the contents of the file that are returned can be generated dynamically from our database (which is on the same machine) - I know it would seem sensible therefore to do this via a web server directly but the users involved have been used to downloading files via sftp and there are quite a lot so it is difficult to change this part of the setup. These were some possibilities I thought of:

• Use a network/macro folder with the path set to http://127.0.0.1/directory/webpage.htm - this is a folder setup though not a file so tries to get a directory listing rather than trying to retrieve it as a file
• Process triggers - Possibly add a trigger to the get function to do something, requires pro version and we only have the standard edition so don't know if this would work but if it can easily be done with this we might upgrade
• Custom file system extensions - Write a .net dll to do it which certainly looks like it would be possible, maybe a little complex but can't tell yet and requires the enterprise edition

Could you let me know what a sensible way forward for me might be - ideally one that would work with standard edition if possible[/list]

Actually, this requirement is supported by our new gateway feature. This feature is essentially the last of your suggestions, ie. "custom file system extension", except that it's built-in and is configurable via the manager.

Due to an oversight, HTTP was actually left out of the configuration dialog for gateways in version 6.2.0, but it will be available in 6.3.0, which is due out next week. If you would like to experiment with it before then then please e-mail us for a link to a preview. I tested it just now to make sure that it works for your case and it worked fine. It took only a minute to set up.

That's the good news. The bad news for you is that the gateway feature is only available in the enterprise edition, but we may be able to offer you a discount. Again, please e-mail us for more information.
