eftFTPD daemon keeps shutting down

Question

I installed eftFTPD on Windows XP pro. Finally got it to work but it shuts down inttermittently. I cannot see any errors as to why it shut down. Anyone run in to the same problem?

We have not experienced that problem, but you should know that the FTP engine in edtFTPD is ProFTPD on the Cygwin platform. You might like to do some searching for ProFTPD/Cygwin users having similar problems.

I finally gave up and installed edtFTPD on Windows 2000 Pro. It hasn't gone down yet. So I asume the problem I had is with edtFTPD on Windows XP Pro sp2

I'm sorry we can't help you with this problem. edtFTPD, being based on ProFTPD/Cygwin, is awfully difficult to debug and we have decided that it is not worth the effort. We are planning to discontinue it and replace it by a free Java-based FTP/FTPS server. This software should quickly reach a high level of quality due to improved maintainability.

It will probably take some months before a full version is released, but we will be starting beta testing within a few weeks. Anyone interested in participating in beta testing please contact support (support@enter...).
