We are going to move our FTP server from one machine to another and need to know the proper way to do with without losing user logins, passwords, and home folders.

Please follow these steps:
  1. Copy the files and subdirectories of the data-directory (see below) from the old machine to the same location on the new machine.
  2. Install CompleteFTP on the new machine. You may use a later version on the new machine than the one you used on the old machine since the installer will upgrade the configuration.
  3. Request a new activation key in the same way that you did when you first activated CompleteFTP.

On Windows Vista and Server 2008 the data-directory is:
C:\ProgramData\Enterprise Distributed Technologies\Complete FTP

On Windows XP and Server 2003 the data-directory is:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Enterprise Distributed Technologies\Complete FTP

I followed the instructions, and the server installed fine. However, it does not appear to have taken the old configuration at all. There are no users and none of the setting changes I made are showing up. I have tried restarting the service, restarting the CompleteFTP manager, and restarting the server itself. Nothing seems to be working.

Cancel that. It seems I copied it to the wrong folder. Everything is working fine now. Thanks for all the help.
