FTP using HTTP

Question

I understand that you've recently added support for HTTP with your .net product.

Is this functionality available for the edtFTPj/PRO version? If not, are there plans for it?

No, HTTP support is not currently in j/pro. Something we'd like to add though.

Note that HTTP support is only useful for downloading.

If this is something you require to purchase the product, let us know. We do like to implement features that people really want, so if this is the case, we'll consider doing it asap.

We already use j/pro and we are experiencing an issue. I don't think the problem is with the product but its providing considerable grief. Everything works ok inside our firewall, but when we try to connect to remote hosts outside the firewall we are receiving an exception:

java.net.SocketException: Malformed reply from SOCKS server

We are running Java 1.5 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.x (.6 I think). This is a new installation and we currently have the same software running on Java 1.3 with linux 2.1.

We have been able to ftp using a utililty called lftp and over http, hence the question about HTTP support.

Have you encountered this exception before?
