Hi,

We've been using edtFTPNet successfully for some of our projects. A new project requires us to use secure FTP so we're planning to upgrade to edtFTPNet PRO. We have a couple of questions regarding Secure FTP and the PRO version:

1. We asked the company that hosts the secure FTP some questions. Specifically we asked them if the ftp site is secure? and if so, which protocol it uses (ftps, sftp)?
Their answer was that "It is SSL FTP with PASV IP redirection".

Does edtFTPNet/PRO support this type of secure connection? Do I need more information from the client to ensure compatibility? They did mention that some PASV connections seem to have some trouble.

2. Does the PRO version attempt to FTP a file multiple times? We have code that does that for our apps that are using the free version but if the PRO has built-in functionality, it will make our code easier to read.

Thank you,

Michael

1. edtFTPnet/PRO supports both FTPS & SFTP so should work fine. Any problems with PASV connections are usually due to firewall problems. Firewalls normally inspect FTP connections and dynamically open ports, but can't do this with encrypted connections. Often, it is required to open a specific port range on your firewall. Just something to be aware of.

2. No. But you should be able to upgrade your current code base easily - very few changes should be required.
