How do I verify the permanent license.jar is valid after editing the trial version license.jar

Question

I edited the trial license.jar file with 7-zip with my myownerstring and mylicensekey. I edited the edtlicense.properties and closed the zip file and renamed it back to license.jar. When I open it up with Textpad, I no longer see the license.owner or license.key in the contents. Should I be able to see the contents after editing the edtlicense.properties?

If you run one of the sample programs included with edtFTPj/PRO, it will fail unless there's a valid license.
