How can I disable the welcome banner?

I would like to be able to disable the banner on a per user basis, or if that is not possible then disable it on a global basis.

What protocol is this? Have you tried setting the welcome banner to an empty string?

This is for SFTP server, I have not tried simply removing the text from the banner yet, as this is a production server, and i would prefer to know if this will work first, before trying it.

If you clear the welcome message and check 'Hide server product details" then CompleteFTP sends "SSH-2.0-Unknown_1.0.0" as opposed to "SSH-2.0-CompleteFTP_10.0.0".  Everything else works the same.
