dir() hanging - issuing LIST , NLST command

Hi
The dir method is working fine when the Java code is running on a Windows machine and contacts a AIX machine.
But when I try to do a dir() from AIX to AIX the call just hangs.
Both cases I am using wild character (*) to list file names in a directory.
Please give any suggestions..........

Probably a firewall problem. Try switching between active & passive modes. Does command line FTP work for dir?
