hi ,
i am trying to do an ftp ,where the ftp server is behind a firewall, and ports are not open ,
is there any method by which i can access the ftp server without opening any ports.
I used passive mode to transfer but i got connection timeout exception.

can anyone help me out on this.

regards,

Rabindra

At least one data port must be open, as well as port 21, the control port. Firewalls can often automatically open the required ports as they are chosen.

It is configurable - either in the client (for active mode) or the server (passive mode). Or if not configured the ports are chosen at random.
