Unable to use '/edtFTPD/var/log/scoreboard.dat'

E-mail support request:

When I try to start the server I get an error message reporting a time-out, and the following line gets appended to the basic log:

- Fatal: ScoreboardFile: : unable to use '/edtFTPD/var/log/scoreboard.dat': Operation not permitted

The problem is caused by a security feature which prevents the server from starting if the logging directory is world-readable.

Versions 0.9.2 and later should not have this problem, so if you're using version 0.9.0 and 0.9.1 please download and install the latest version of edtFTPD.

Otherwise, try the following:

- Open Windows Explorer.- Right-click on the edtFTPD/var/log directory.- Select Properties.- Select the Security tab (XP Home users, see note below).- Select Everyone from the list of users and groups.- Press Remove.
